Fredericton, NB - As the fall sunshine fades away over the distance, the final roar of the engines sooth the silence of the Geary woods for the last time this season. Today the final champions of the 2008 season for each division were crowned along with some lucky drivers who took home feature wins. Aside from the on-track action, fans were treated to spectacular prizes, given away by none other than the 106.9 Capital FM DJ, Trevor Doyle. Fans were also treated to a 45 minute on track autograph session where they could get up close to their favourite drivers for pictures, goodies and autographs. With the end of racing approaching fast, all drivers gave it their final all for the last dash to the points.
Fredericton, NB - Usually by this time the leaves have started to change and the hot summer weather seeps away into cooler Fall weather. However the sun it still shining in the Geary woods and the warmer weather is still at its grace, just in time for the Speedway 660 Season Finale, Fan Appreciation Day. This weekend is solely dedicated to the fans that make this sport exactly what it is, Fantastic! This will also be the weekend where the drivers give back to the fans with a pre-race on-track autograph session starting at 1pm. This is just one component of Fan Appreciation Day that is designed for fans of all ages and includes prizes from gracious sponsors that will be given away throughout the day. Aside from the prize giveaways and other highlights designed around fans, this weekend will be the final chase for the championship, crowning each division champ and outstanding rookie at the end of the event.
Fredericton, NB - Action and excitement was the main focus today at Speedway 660 with the first ever Triple Header 50 lap feature, sponsored by Fredericton Volkswagen. Although Mother Nature tried to interfere with the event, she could not take fans away from the fast pace racing at Speedway 660. As the sun started to peak through the overcast sky, the roar of engines filled the Geary woods.
Fredericton, NB - Great news!!! Hal has been released from hospital and is resting at his home in Aroostock. Hal has progressed very well since being moved to Perth Hospital. Once again the family would like to thank everyone for all their well wishes.
Fredericton, NB - After a weekend off for some well deserved R&R, Speedway 660 will return back to its regular season for yet another WicKID event of the 2008 season. This Saturday will be the triple header 50 lap feature for all three divisions including the Coast Tire Street Stocks, The Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman and the Irving Lubricants Pro Stocks.
We are receiving updates from the team and family every couple of days and things are going well with Hal. He is now in Perth Hospital and they had him up and walking over the weekend. As far as we know visitation is still restricted to family but we are hoping to hear more on that later this week. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and support.
Fredericton, NB - As Leisure Family RV Centers SPEEDWEEKEND winds down, the Enduro drivers take the excitement and action back up to the max in their final championship race of the 2008 season. Being the final race of the season for these drivers, they went all out and held nothing back.
Today’s event was held to be the most exciting and entertaining Enduro race of history. Never has Speedway 660 seen as many rolls and long red flag incidents as this afternoons race. The Enduro series is held out to be the class with no rules and bearings which results in a lot of smash ups, crashes, and damaged cars, which is exactly what these fans come to see four times a year. The show the drivers put on this afternoon put the WicKID in the Speedway’s saying WicKID Family fun.
Fredericton, NB - We received an update this afternoon that Hal is awake in ICU and talking to family members. They expect to keep him in ICU for a few days and then hopefully transfer him out. This is AWESOME news!!
Fredericton, NB - A gorgeous sunny day always leads to a WicKID day or racing at Speedway 660. Today’s event, the Peterbilt 250 was a memorable one for many as Nova Scotia’s Craig Slaunwhite in the #23SFR made history tonight by becoming the youngest (27 yrs old) winner of the 8th annual Peterbilt 250. It was an emotional victory for the SFR team, five years from this day they won the Peterbilt 250 with the late Scott Fraser. In addition, this great event has yet to see a repeat winner as Slaunwhite becomes the 8th different winner of this event.
